And it continues. Eighty five fat skinnies were the product of a solid half days' work. The boys were hopping, the seas were calm, the fish were biting, there was nothing wrong; nothing worth mentioning anyway. The robust quantity of "skin"around Alijos, that flies in the face of every fishing paradigm all of us have ever known, shows no inclination of leaving. Conditions in the area are still what we would expect to find in the early summer, or toward the end of fall - crystal clear blue water in the range of 73 degrees Fahrenheit. So it is.
The time of being surprised, stupified, and/or dumbfounded is long past. Suffice it to say that this is a phenomena; one that would be well received as the new norm. But one probably shouldn't count on it. For now it is best to go with is and count our blessings; exactly what every one of us out here has done. What a bonus.
Recognizing the value of what was accomplished we mounted up at days end, after complimenting our load of sardines, and resumed our trek down the line; another day plus travel respite that I am confident will elicit festivities again. And why not? No one is knocking at the door, no one is blowing up with text's or e-mail's, the phone is not ringing off the hook, coupled with an abundance of time and primo, flat calm weather a better setting for relaxation would be hard to find.
Photos today feature long time Royal Star veterans Cliff Hamaishi and Chip Mezin both of whom shared in the day's success with more than a couple of these beautiful Wahoo.
