Well we gained some miles - hard earned by any definition, then did what we had to. The boat was fine in a navigational sense, no issues there at all, but the intransigent Simon relentlessly hounded our attempt to creep south with big wind and seas; bigger than any of us wanted to endure all day long. With no break in the forecast and nothing but a day long slog gaining little ground or advantage ahead of us we opted for the best solution.

A small island haven we haven't utilized in many years was the destination of choice. Mind you this wasn't a fishing move, we caught only a few miscellaneous grabbers as the day past, this was a weather dependent action made in all our best interest.

So we passed the day waiting in a calm lee with the rain pouring and wind screaming. It rated low in action, excitement, and entertainment but all time in comfort relative to the conditions. It has been quite some time since we scrubbed a day of fishing due to conditions but these rare occasions come with the territory. Safety always comes first.

By all forecasts it appears that we will be back in the saddle tomorrow as the lingering effects of Simon wane. We'll still be dealing with some wind and seas, the relentless bastard is intent upon reminding us about our place in the real world, but it will be workable. Onward ho.
