Above yesterday's results our marginally successful morning extended beyond the first and only hour. Aside from one mid morning excursion for zero we remained busy working on something throughout the day. Not that such effort translated into significant, collective quantity in the hatch, a number of anglers were left out of the victory circle, but we did place one and all in the position to succeed time and again.

The opportunity today included a number of mouth watering spectacles where vast schools of bluefin responded agressively to our liberally broadcast offerings, these sights alone motivated everyone to fish as hard as they ever have, yet still most were left dressed and waiting when all was said and done. This is the bluefin fishing that most of us know as common, and has been but for a handful or two of days this entire season. It really is what makes big production on the bastards so magically satifying. For every day we see and catch bluefin tuna there are at least five that we don't, perhaps even more.

In the positive I can say that today's results, or lack thereof, made for an easy decision to seek greener pastures down below; time to go long range fishing. The rapidly subsiding southerly storm soon makes way for a variety sojurn down the coast. Offshore calls at least one more day however to provide ample time for the waning tempest to sputter through it's final death throes. Then, and only then, we will venture beyond the safe haven of the northern zone.
