A different day down here that ended in the success column but marked a distinct change in the glory setting a few days prior. One quick morning shot on bigger fish is about all it amounted to then the remaining daylight, all twelve hours of it, was spent slow scratching away at fish in the 70 - 120# class. Ever the optimists, we held fast on the release standards (under 100 pounds but for a few exceptions late) believing that the final morning tomorrow could still be the one.
As for the signs around rest assured that this zone is still ripe with big fish potential. They somewhat took today off, a typical occurrence in the world of fishing, but are definitely lurking somewhere nearby. Depending on how tomorrow morning unfolds, with our remaining capacity down to a couple of handfuls of bigger fish at the most, today's lull just may end up being a blessing in disguise. I don't want to get too far ahead of things though; assumptions in fishing have a distinct way of sowing regret.
Today's photo sequence first features long range veteran Norm Nagaishi in action with Captain Brian Sims assisting and holding the line on the bow, then in triumph with his 193 pound prize when all was said and done.
