Royal Star
12/19/13
A smooth transition in Los Cabos as rejuvenated anglers departed for the express ride and Royal Star began the final, three day travel leg of the voyage. Slated for a 0800 arrival on Monday, December 23rd we do not expect delays as good weather and no other obstacles appear in the forecast. The boys have more than a little time to tend to odds and ends preparing our beloved Royal Star for the next twelve day run departing on December 26th.
Based on what we observed and experienced during the last round below I have to express great optimism about opportunities ahead. There are very good prospects in several zones and a perfect set of water conditions to maintain, and build upon the amount of trophy yellowfin around. Good times are in store; material of dream and legend, if you are a fisherman.
Photos today feature a couple of fishermen; Garry "Big Fish" Sato gettin' 'er done on the bow, and Miguel Borromeo in the moment reefing on his final day, tough as nails, 195 on the stern. And, departing for a moment from the fishing theme, image number three is a tribute to Chef's Drew Rivera and Jeffery Grant who shined during this voyage taking full advantage of time provided by this ultra-limited group. The extra time was channeled into some of their signature, improvisational creative dishes including this lunch time crab stack provided by Chef Drew Rivera. As I recall the base greens were arugula but I admittedly can not do justice to this culinary masterpiece in layman's description. Perhaps I can someday cajole Drew into producing some recipes for all to follow or at least encourage some of the beneficiaries of these amazing creations to chime in.
