A day of leisurely travel gaining altitude in fine weather stopping to smell a few roses along the way. No big game
fish to report as scant sign was encountered but we did accomplish our primary goal loading up on perfect green and
Spanish mackerel along the way. A late afternoon of kelp bass fishing served to entertain and demonstrated the
general affection just about every southland, west coast angler has for catch and releasing the scrappy, immensely
satisfying fish.

Onward and upward was the predominate theme however and carried through following a final evening respite for a few
more variety entertainers. Perfect weather and conditions beckon from the bluefin grounds offshore. At this point
they would be the icing on the cake. But understanding their penchant for trickery we head out with no illusions.
The stage is set. Now will the band arrive?

Photo for the day features long time Royal Star angler Mark Mayeda with his iron enticed "skin" a few days prior.
Captain Drew Rivera, better known for his world class culinary talents, did the gaffing honors.
