Fish Report for 9-29-2012
Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star
9/28/12
As good as we had it yesterday the fishing today was hard pressed to have an ill effect upon the overall
trip. Better said the fishing we had throughout the voyage. We are loaded up in every respect. Again the
big three were accomplished with room to spare - quantity, quality, and variety. Throw in sublime sea
conditions for the majority of the adventure, and a fine group of anglers that improved their fishing
skills tenfold during the outing, and we comfortably deem this one another big success.
It was especially apparent in advance of the final dinner service when the galley was abuzz with
enthusiasm; abuzz with excitement, laughter, the common sense of triumph - this is the ultimate reward
for our crewmen who dedicate tremendous effort to this end. Even with a slow day of fishing - we choose
the unbeaten path today for a single lonely albacore and a few handfuls of miscellaneous yellowfin,
dorado, and small yellowtail released, we still ended on a high note; that boomer stop late yesterday
carried us through with ease.
Between that and the remainder of the fishing success experienced during this adventure it was nigh
impossible to spoil the electric atmosphere on board. We came, we saw, we won; we lived up to the
expectation, and then some.
When the weather kicked up in the late afternoon and our placid sea became far less the distant call was
heeded with pleasure. It was time to go; the cue could not have been more clear. We set a course for home
mighty pleased to be in position to do so.
Huge accolades to the Baja Fish Gear group of anglers who all enjoyed the fishing, the good company, the
expert instruction, and some fantastic raffle items and exceptional gifts from Ed and his guys. In
particular the expertise and warm demeanor of Baja Fish Gear representative Sam De La Torre was a real
pleasure. Between the stellar fishing and warm on board atmosphere this voyage was an ideal example of
why we choose to work closely with the Baja Fish Gear crew. They are at the top of their game.
Now comes Capt. Brian Sims' turn in the rotation as he assumes command on the final seven day voyage of
the 2012 season departing tomorrow. Another fine set of options suggests more good things to come as the
late September/early October time frame continues to reveal why we schedule this length of voyage at this
time of year. Going back a long way the statistics are rather compelling.
Photo today features first time Royal Star angler Craig Tsukamoto who started the day with a bang. This
twenty eight pound albacore was both his and our high light of the day by far. One final shout out to
Adrianna from Sam who returns home all smiles at the thought of what has been and what is to come. Look
for Capt. Sims' reports to carry through next week.
