Royal Star
9/15/12
Well it has been an eventful week both shore side and on board Royal Star. Our new, 2012 schedule is now
complete and should be appearing on the Royal Star website soon, if not already. This is a fantastic
opportunity to review the schedule and sign up for the summer/fall of 2013 as just about every voyage
offers abundant availability.
Our annual printed brochure/schedule is soon to follow in limited quantity but the present advantage goes
to the web savvy anglers. Both Tracy and Capt. Brian Sims are in the office this week eager to field
calls regarding the upcoming season and more.
Speaking of the upcoming season I want to mention a couple of fall voyages with availability at present.
In particular the annual "Las Rocas" eleven day departing Saturday, November 10th returning Wednesday,
November 21st. boasts plenty of availability as the main group of veteran anglers switched to another,
later voyage. At present there are at least a handful of spots available during that premier time of the
fall season. Not a giant yellowfin exclusive by any means that voyage will target everything coming and
going with the ultimate goal of a successful voyage featuring giant yellowfin and variety.
I will presently venture the notion that this fall season is going to develop on schedule with a strong
likelihood of prime big fish time beginning in late October/mid November and lasting well into December
and January. With elevated water temperatures and the predicted moderate El Nino appearing to be the real
thing chances of big fish along the coast and fantastic ridge action for variety including wahoo through
December are very high. We have a few other spots open on the 12 day voyages following Thanksgiving and
Christmas so don't hesitate to give us a call if you have a hankering to fish big ones down below.
Otherwise the battle continues with another seven day voyage departing today. The annual North County
Fire Fighters group joins this run ready to cool off on the high seas targeting tuna and variety action.
Prospects remain excellent offshore as well as down below with big Bluefin still on scene as well as
yellowfin anywhere from 10 - 60#. As has been the case this entire 2012 season good weather offshore is
the key factor and we depart in ideal conditions to serve the cause.
