Royal Star
8/29/12
It was a fisherman's day; flat calm, a mind boggling abundance of life, pristine conditions - a perfect
recipie to evoke the unique appreciation known only to those who have experienced the great outdoors at
its best, and worst. Today was the rich side of the equation. Productivity was not as strong as the
previous day late but that was no issue. By evening we had well enough and the slower mid day pace that
followed a good morning hit allowed time to enjoy the proverbial roses.
Yellowtail are now in the "been there, done that" category leaving just one alternative for the remainder
of our fishing time. Offshore or bust as we plow back to the grounds in heavenly weather forecast to
remain intact for at least the next three days. The special combination of flat calm and full moon is
again upon us. What becomes of it remains to be seen but history suggests tremendous potential. It goes
without saying that we are primed and ready dedicating our final two fishing days to the effort.
Photo for the day features Royal Star veteran Wayne Iba with Captain Brian Sims and one of the many fine
yellows that succumbed to the surface iron today. Both today and yesterday the "pluggers" casting various
surface jigs were in fishing heaven with the fired up yellowtail eagerly taking them down.
