Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

8/15/12

No big catching to report today as we are good, done, loaded to the full satisfaction and delight of
everyone on board. We were not looking for more than a few fish, a good time, and calm seas to end this
final day of fishing on the right note. And in those respects the objective was achieved.

A few colorful varieties were added to the tally and galley providing Chef Drew Rivera the opportunity to
work his magic and uphold what has almost become a Royal Star tradition. Otherwise some interesting
scenery passed the time as we worked north in agreeable seas. All told it was a day of pure leisure; no
stress, gratified, and enjoying the accomplishment of an exceptional fishing excursion; long range
fishing at it's finest - again.

The big three - variety, quality, and sufficient quantity were again definitely achieved. We are glad of
it, and sincerely grateful for the good fortune. Based on what I am seeing on the offshore grounds this
is far from the end. In fact, as the set up continues to unfold I would not be surprised to see this run
carry into September and October. Actually I would be more surprised if it didn't. And, I am fully
prepared to see some albacore in the counts as we push into September and the fish move out west. Crazy?
We'll see.

Now Captain Toussaint sallies forth on the one and only three day adventure of the Royal Star summer 2012
schedule. I'd have to say that the present set up favors success on this run by a wide margin; there are
a lot of places to go right now that offer a host of fishing opportunities. I'll let his reports relate
the tale as I step aside for a short respite.

For any interested I will join Ed and the guys up at Baja Fish Gear this Saturday for their annual summer
blowout sale. I am among the scheduled seminar speakers with plans to talk long range fishing beginning
at 11:00 a.m. I understand that there are going to be some tremendous bargains on gear and plenty of up
to date information on tackle, catching, and fishing techniques. I am looking forward to the event and
the opportunity to support the finest tackle venue in the region. See you Saturday!

Final voyage photos feature uber Royal Star veterans Bob Hiyane with the yellowfin and Ted Gustin with
the bluefin both landed within minutes of each other during our epic drift late yesterday.
