At this time of the summer it never ceases to amaze/inspire/motivate me as day by day conditions and
fishing show such dramatic improvement. Not that it is a surprise, in fact the exact opposite is true and
almost infallibly predicted, but it is still marvelous to witness, enjoy, and partake in.

We depart on this annual "Humboldt Fishin' Lumberjacks" six day run with a highly motivated group of
fisheries experts and Humboldt alumni well prepared to conduct the "pelagic fish survey". Tidings from
below bid well for success though not in easy form. It sounds like every one of them is well earned but
also well worth the effort. The quality of tuna and yellowtail on the offshore grounds is presently
phenomenal with 25 - 45 pounds the average tuna class and 15 - 25 pounds average for the yellowtail.

We set forth with a wealth of positives to hang our hat on ready to participate in the action that has
been reliably consistent over the past week.
