If there is such a thing as "easy" in this realm today would most certainly qualify. Primo weather,
beautiful fishing conditions, a quantity of fish that makes one marvel at the ocean's ability to generate
such staggering biomass, and that same biomass exhibiting a profound disposition for biting everything we
threw at them. Yes, though the pure physical work of the outing was far from easy, the hard part of
finding them, of finding fish that are wanton and willing, was a walk in the park.

One anchor job was all it took. By the time the dawn pastels faded into crisp morning brilliance it was
game on with every bait or jig that hit the water producing an almost instant bite. And from there it did
not stop, or even slow down, until we were done; fully sated with a wealth of perfect, 16 - 25#
yellowtail in the second RSW tank. Throw in a few handfuls of Dorado, a few more of 12 - 18# yellowfin
tuna, and even a few exotics including a couple of released billfish, and the day was complete - before
nine thirty in the morning!

What a morning that ironically, as seems to be the case so often in these instances, did not want to end.
In an effort to specifically target tuna following the morning yellowtail harvest we moved to a deepwater
zone far from the yellowtail precincts. We set up shop in our new tuna location and almost immediately
began catching more yellowtail. They were ravenous, insatiable, and ultimately ran us out.

So the day ended with a marginal offshore effort as we focused on gaining altitude in the interest of
making another day of variety fishing in flat calm conditions tomorrow. There will be no effort directed
toward loading up - we are already there, but a few big butts, a few rounds of big kelp bass released,
and perhaps even a croaker or two would certainly be well received. Regardless a good time will be had by
all. With what we have on board, with the extraordinarily good fortune we have already realized, there is
a sublime sense of accomplishment, of satisfaction, of success; and rightly so.

Photo for the day features a piece of the action as Ronnie Koyasako and Greg Emoto pull on a couple of
feisty yellows just after daylight.
