Royal Star
And the final goal of rounding out the catch with a nice shot of offshore Bluefin was
indeed met. With that we are calling this run an exceptional success from every
perspective. Quantity, quality, and variety identified the catch as ideal; but of greater
significance was the overall atmosphere on board.
This mixed group of seasoned and novice anglers were set on enjoying their fishing vacation
with time to relax among friends away from the grind the obvious first objective. The
fishing falling right into place, meeting the "long range" standard by any and every
metric, was a natural result. Positive so often seems to manifest positive; as such this
catch was no surprise.
Now we forge ahead departing on the next annual Michael Doi seven day run with Captain
Toussaint and I combining our minds and moxy to construct another fruitful excursion.
Before that though we extend our most sincere gratitude to the annual Phillips Steel/Wood
Group charter members who are uncontested professionals at having a good time; and they're
not bad fishermen either.
Final voyage photos feature anglers Steve Pairish and Gregg demonstrating the fine quality
of the "local" offshore yellowfin now consistently mixed with the Bluefin in the lower
zone, and Dave Wyler with his first of several 25# class Bluefin of the day.
