A few more photos today the first of which features long time angler Steve Berczik reefing on a seventy pound offshore Bluefin moments before being subdued. Photo number two features a bridge perspective most anglers don't have the chance to see because they are too busy pulling on fish during times like these. This shot of the loaded fathometer was taken about half way through one of our better afternoon stops on offshore Bluefin a couple of trips back. It is a magic image to those of us who spend countless hours roaming the ocean in search of exactly this; this is what we are looking for!

And the final image is pure indulgence on my part. A young Royal Star was elected "Sportsman of the Year" this season earning the distinction in every way. He is a hard charger (imagine that), and a fine representative of our efforts to give something back to the Point Loma community. You may just see this youngster out on the boat this season as he is my seven year old son Duke. Needless to say this is the pride of parenthood, and perhaps the future of Royal Star(?).

Back to fishing the latest information from the local grounds indicates much sign of smaller, 15 - 20 pound Bluefin beginning to show within 70 - 100 miles of San Diego. Many small spots of jumpers and breaking fish were observed from the air yesterday documenting the standard pattern of the fish showing more and more every day at this time of year. Again it is only a matter of time before the bigger fish and variety begin to fill in. Keep this in mind when considering the two upcoming 2 1/2 day voyages at the end of June; another ten days from now at this time of year might as well be a month. Get ready - they are on their way.
