"Big Fish" Garry Sato does the honors today. And who better for the job? Garry's dedication to the advancement of long range fishing dates back to the beginning of the century when he was drawn to the apex of sport fishing after a long history of fishing local waters. One of those classic "tinkerer's" Garry always seems to be coming up with and/or trying something new many times to eye rolling skepticism of those around him. I have even been guilty a few times in the past.
In fact, one of my favorite "Sato" recollections occurred six or seven years prior at Hurricane bank when Garry was looking for something new to try and hang his hat on. He came up with the idea of sending a chunk back with the current about ten feet beneath a floating balloon. Normally this approach is about as far as one would expect to be effective when targeting big tuna; an approach far better suited for "cheese eaters" at the local lake. At the very least, it is a significant deviation from any standard method. Relative to his successful results on the occasion stated (a handy 175 hooked in short order) I will say that the fish were biting awfully good. But, as an example of Garry's perpetual drive to try something different, to discover something new, this is an ideal example. He easily could have hooked one another way, but just wanted to see if an alternative would work. He is an idea man. Progress is made by such thinking.
Otherwise we have zero to report from the dull ride up that other than one spectacular sunrise and sunset offered very little in the way of action or intensity. I'll give everyone a break on the sunset descriptions - for awhile anyway. Plenty else comes to mind but of utmost importance is our annual holiday sign off that comes with our most sincere best wishes.
Good health and prosperity to all from the entire Royal Star team. Our success is only because of the loyalty Royal Star anglers have demonstrated for our operation year after year. It is a pleasure of immeasurable proportions for all of us to carry our anglers forth and return safely with the finest product produced in the long range fleet in hand. Rest assured we are stronger by the day improving our operation, and the entire long range sport fishing fleet, in our unending drive to advance the quality of our customer's fishing experience. Our most gracious, sincere gratitude to all Royal Star anglers and families. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Thank you!!!
