Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

I'm going to make it real short today as I believe no one will enjoy our sob story. Actually, it is just another typical day of off shore albacore fishing when the fish that were so abundant the day before disappear into the depths. Just like that - here today, gone tomorrow; the end result of which was us holding the bag. Oh but it gets better. There was a showing, in fact a very good showing with big scores for those in the new area. With the information in hand we had just enough time to make a run for the big sundowner bite - that didn't happen. Just before our arrival everything shutdown and aside from one small consolation stop we were left wanting. So you have shared an abbreviated version of my day that definitely stoked my ire but far from rattled my composure. As my good buddy Mike always says "this is not our first barbecue". Days such as these merely steel my resolve and commitment to hammer these bastards tomorrow; and the next day, and the next.

The real story and credit for toughing it out belongs to the anglers below who rolled with the punches taking the challenging day in stride. The vast majority of these anglers have rode out tough days in the past and understand that such consequences are inherent in all fishing. So the mood on deck remains positive and upbeat as we head into day two prepared to make the most of whatever comes our way tomorrow. Now that we have relocated prospects are favorable but, like we saw yesterday, nothing is predictable. One thing certain is that we are all in for albacore and tuna preferring this voyage to target the off shore varieties rather than head for the coast. Tomorrow is a new day and we will make it happen.
