Royal Star Fish Report

7-6-2009
Royal Star

Between the just arrived "Barking Spiders" eight day and the now departed John Kashiki seven day voyage, I have to say I am nearly overwhelmed at the depth of our relationships with Royal Star anglers that have been developed over the past twelve years. Between saying goodbye to one group and welcoming another, the combination of pride and gratitude we feel is what drives us to deliver the Royal Star experience in every aspect of our anglers? voyages. As I remarked about during the last voyage, the relationships we develop with anglers are far more than superficial as the years of fishing together on Royal Star and interacting with each other on the beach develops genuine bonds of friendship. This was never demonstrated more clearly to me than yesterday morning when greetings and goodbyes were complimented with sincere handshakes, warm embraces, and pecks on the cheeks from the girls who are always recognized as the most important component, whether shore side or on board, in the world of long range fishing.

I don't want to get too sentimental, but certainly now more than ever we are recognizing just how special the operation we have built is to us and the anglers who have volumes of cherished memories they frequently recall from their Royal Star fishing adventures. Our long range voyages are about way more than just going out and slaying a bunch of fish. They are about making a good catch of fish among friends and having the time of your life while doing it.

I'll let the photos do the talking now and will send in at least three or four rounds to compliment Capt, Toussaint's daily reports from Royal Star. These photos feature the Barking Spiders eight day voyage to Alijos Rocks and the action on yellowfin tuna and yellowtail landed during the adventure. Today I am including a photo of Randy and I that Jim Wade shot on the way to the grounds our first day out. After all the years fishing together we still have a great time when we are both on board and use the time at sea to catch up while working to our hearts content. Other photos include anglers Dave Patterson, Jim Wade, Mark Mayo, Steve Peters, Bill Douglas, Frank Lay, Tom Stevenson, and Bob Richardson relaxing on the way down the line and in action once the fishing began. Enjoy.
