Royal Star
In addition to his dedication at the rail and fishing ability tagging project veteran Tim Shields is best known to me for his contagious positive demeanor that draws in and affects everyone on board. It is a real pleasure to be at sea with an individual so focused on all the exceptional aspects of everything around him/her. Not that there is much to be down on in the case of these amazing adventures to the Revillagigedo Marine reserve. But, there are plenty of challenges to the fishing, such as the annoying sharks that hounded us particularly at Clarion, that can skew an individual's perspective and have a profound effect on results at the rail if one allows it. The ideal strategy to follow in such cases was demonstrated to perfection by Mr. Shields throughout both voyages I have shared with him. The cup is always half full or better. If it isn't for a moment, an hour, or even a day or two, it undoubtedly will be again; especially if one refuses to acknowledge otherwise. This is another one of those lessons that all anglers can take to the bank and should employ in their fishing endeavors. In every form fishing can often be a test of individual character. In this respect angler Tim Shields has earned the Royal Star crewmen's and my sincere admiration. Thanks for your support of this project Tim and we look forward to many future Royal Star adventures.
