Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star
The southerly push continues following a quick stop in Cabo San Lucas to embark the majority of our anglers and our counterpart in the Revillagigedo tagging project from the Mexican National Fisheries Institute or Instituto Nacional de Pesca. I have to say that in yesterday's case it was a very good thing that the stop lasted only a few hours as the spring break activities on the beach and around Royal Star had me fearful that one or two of my crewmen might jump ship in favor of fiesta over fishing. As it was however, we got underway in a timely manner and are now looking at a 1430 arrival at San Benedicto tomorrow where we plan to begin tagging activities upon arrival. Good weather presently graces the ride and appears to be in the program for at least the next few days. As such we hope to put the desirable conditions to good use as this round of fishing begins.
Before we begin our fishing, I want to mention and thank Shimano for the support they have demonstrated for this project in both the donations they have contributed for the purchase of archival tags as well as the equipment they have provided for anglers joining us. This tagging voyage is actually the first to be uniquely sponsored by Shimano and anglers this trip have the opportunity to test out a wide variety of Shimano equipment from the extensive array of Talus rods, Trinidad, Tiagra, and Tyrnos reels they have provided. I am really looking forward to our anglers using this new equipment as many have never experienced the opportunity to test drive a Shimano rod and reel combo. Providing we make a catch, I suspect that a few of these guys will be making their next fishing gear investment in the form of a Shimano rod, reel, or both. Time will tell. One thing certain is that we are brimming with confidence when it comes to the Shimano gear as all their equipment has been time tested in the most durable manner imaginable on Royal Star over the past ten years. When it comes to long range fishing equipment we are very focused and depend on gear with rugged compositions and reliable performance. In these respects Shimano's gear cannot be outdone. With the fishing on this voyage about to begin, rest assured that the equipment on board provided by Shimano will be a big part of any success we achieve. We are thankful for it. Look for fishing details to commence in tomorrow's report.
