Royal Star
And just like that, it happens. The guys blew out of Guadalupe mid afternoon gladly taking their twenty five 50 to 120 pound yellowfin while charging below for reports of exactly what we have been waiting for all season. Our valued colleauges on the southern grounds, through perseverance and appropriate timing, knocked it out of the park with several good stops on trophy yellowfin in the 130 - 200 pound and larger class. The signs of big fish were reported as "the real deal" and needless to say we are practically jumping out of our skin at the thought of finally getting some justice on this season's extremely crafty giant yellowfin tuna. So there it is in living color.
These changes in the ocean both intrigue and energize me to no end. If you follow ours or any of the San Diego long range vessel's daily web reports you must by now realize how often these remarkable transformations occur. "Expect the unexpected" should be the official incantation of San Diego long range fishing for as many times as these complete turnarounds have, and will continue to happen. I can go on and on relating this topic as it never fails to amaze me. In closing for this day let this be another lesson to those who doubt or cast negative assumptions based on scant knowledge of the big picture out there. You never know and can not predict what is coming based on what has happened in the prior days, weeks, months, or years. You just have to go and leave it up to whatever fish deities are in command of your particular voyage.
The boys will be traveling down today searching for flotsam when surface conditions are ideal. Otherwise they will arrive on the big fish grounds in the a.m. tomorrow with the help of our valued "code group", who no doubt will be keeping close track of whatever big fish are around. In this respect we are mighty thankful for that ever valuable unbroken stream of information. We will report in again tomorrow.
