Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

Well we finished off our fishing with a few quick drifts for some delicious vermillion rock cod rounding out our catch with a little more variety as we had the weather and time. So the conclusion following seven days of fishing effort along the Southern Baja coast is as follows. Short of forty, fifty, or whatever number to you equals success of quality yellowfin tuna, we pieced together a fine catch of variety that in the end added up to a worthy quantity of fish. It's funny how that is. So many times we are surprised when the catch comes out of the wells as the overall quantity is observed as a whole rather than the few at a time being placed in the holds throughout the course of the trip. In the end it always proves to be enough, especially when the catch is maintained in premium, fresh condition.

So, although the yellowfin tuna pulled a no show, we are considering the voyage a worthy success, mainly due to the fantastic spirit of a group of anglers who embodied the correct perspective towards sport fishing. The main goals of any fishing experience are to have a good time and appreciate every aspect of the adventure. In this respect, every angler on the Fred Fukunaga 2007 ten day Royal Star fall voyage came through with flying colors. Many thanks from the Royal Star team to Fred and all of you who joined us on this excursion. We look forward to fishing with you all again!
