Royal Star
The guys finished up the voyage with a final full day of offshore albacore fishing in good weather. It was not a wide open day of non stop catching but they scratched up a respectable seventy chunky longfin before calling it a trip and heading in from the west. As for the crystal ball fishing forecast for the upcoming weeks, there still appears to be a very good quantity of albacore around, and, as I reported last week, now is the traditional time of year that the albacore, if still in the area, really get with the program and start biting. We will certainly see. Otherwise the incredible sign of big yellowtail at Cedros continues to amaze showing no sign of impact and no sign of slowing down. For that we must thank our lucky stars because the great irony of summer 2007, that being the lack of significant sign at Guadalupe now that we finally received fishing permits, proves the old ?bird in the hand? saying with remarkable clarity.
So now we will see what Captain Brian Sims produces as the boat departed yesterday on our annual Mitch Otera five day with a fantastic group of twenty four anglers on board. They will be spending the first day on the albacore grounds so we will pass along the results as they develop.
