It looks like there was a slight SNAFU with the daily reports from other vessels being posted on our site and our report from the 18th not making it through. As such I will give a final recap although I can say that thankfully, in the case of the daily reports only, there wasn?t a whole lot to report in the fishing department. As most of you were aware, we had two outstanding days in the local albacore zone and took off at the end of day two in search of a new offshore zone that offered opportunities at different variety; mainly yellowtail and Dorado. There has been a large area of sea water temperatures in the seventy two to seventy four degree range down below so that is where we focused our efforts in flat calm weather with a gentle rolling swell. Suffice to say that compared to our first two days production took a significant dip as ninety five percent of the fish we found were uninterested in what we had to offer simply swimming away when we approached discovered kelps. Regardless we gave it a full day of effort, and catching or not, it was a pleasant day to be out on the water. Of course this sentiment was predicated upon the fact that we were blessed with fantastic albacore catching and were sitting on a robust quantity of product in the hatch, but any way one considers the big picture, a day on the ocean in beautiful weather is a success.
Now Captain Randy Toussaint takes the helm on one of our most coveted voyages of the summer season. The annual Mako Nakamura six day has arrived with its fantastic group of Royal Star veteran anglers and long history of incredible success. As reported, Captain Toussaint has the pleasure this season so look for his reports with the details throughout the week.
