Far from the big barn burner we were hoping for as the albacore went back into not biting mode dishing out a healthy case of frustration as stop after stop produced nothing but empty hooks. By late afternoon we took the hint and began a southerly tack that we hope will lead to more productive zones where what we do find has the biting spirit. Fortunately the day was nowhere near a bust as several good size kelps saved our bacon with some good yellowtail action, but I can say with certainty that we are presently good and soured on the albacore front. So be it, and, at the very least, we take solace in the knowledge that those albacore will pay a dear price one of these days; preferably sooner than later. Presently though, our focus has shifted to the kelp paddy search hoping for yellowtail, yellowfin tuna, and dorado action tomorrow.
