Fish Report for 12-5-2006
Royal Star Fish Report
12-5-2006
Royal Star
We are again underway heading south in a hurry as the big fish zone has opened up appearing now to be the "real deal". I'm not going to spoil Captain Andy Cates (Red Rooster) report from yesterday, by detailing the specifics, but I will say that conditions, sign, and the catch made yesterday, are well in line with anything we experienced in that area last season. Needless to say we can't get down there fast enough as we are eager to throw our hat in the pool with the time and weather to make it happen.
On a related note, both Randy and I, as well as the other experienced Captains in our fleet, all see this area coming alive showing great potential for the upcoming months as the El Nino push of warm water up the coast has temperatures in the high seventies with all indications pointing towards more of the same. If we recall back to 2002/2003 the big fish action in these zones lasted well into January and February with very similar conditions. Although we have wealth of modern technology at our disposal for use in predicting what is to come, the most important tool we have and take heed of is our instinct. I can say at present that both Randy's and my instinct is screaming that there is going to be very good fishing as we progress into January 2007.
As such, with space in our schedule from a dropped trip, we are scheduling a new eleven day trip in the final week of January looking to take advantage of what we feel will be great action on Giant Yellowfin Tuna between Bahia Magdalena and Cabo San Lucas. The eleven day time frame makes for a full seven days fishing in that area and of course allows time to target variety fish while heading south and north. As this voyage is being offered with such short notice it will be priced accordingly with a maximum load of 22 anglers.
The details are as follows:
Departure - Return - Anglers - Cost
Wed., January 24th 10:00 a.m. - Sun., February 4th 8:00 a.m. - 22 - $2425
Once again this is a fantastic opportunity to fish Royal Star with our standard limited loads at a superbly discounted price. If you wish to target Giant Yellowfin Tuna in the same setting as the fall of 2005 and early 2006, give Tracy or Randy a call in the office as soon as possible. If the action on big fish progresses in the direction we sense, this could very well be an opportunity of a lifetime.
