Royal Star
After a final night of steady action on big Guadalupe yellowtail, we worked up the island looking at a couple of areas that have not seen a boat for a long time. With the big south swell mixing up the stock fishing areas on the south end, now was the perfect time to give the other side of the island a thorough check before heading for home. As it turns out, we aren?t missing anything on the west side where beautiful weather and conditions (water temperature, color, and current) combined for nothing other than a handful of big yellowtail. It just goes to show that it takes a lot more than good conditions to find the fish. Despite the slow fishing action, we wrapped up the fishing portion of the voyage just fine and headed for home in good weather with nothing more than an occasional roll from the mixed up offshore swell. Captain Toussaint resumes command tomorrow with plans to return to the big island on the outside targeting beautiful, Guadalupe quality.
