A beautiful day on the coast beginning and ending with superb yellowtail action on fish in the 12 - 22# class. Our morning was punctuated by a three hour futile mission searching for trophy size yellowtail, but we recovered in fine style late ending our afternoon with plenty of school size yellowtail before heading west in search of trophies. No doubt about it, we had plenty to be thankful for in the weather department on the inside as we quickly learned while heading west into the evening and night. I can't say we were surprised however as the forecasts have been very accurate to date and told this story long before we began our westerly trek. Overall the weather has been the main deterrent to the offshore effort and has more of less limited our group to island hopping over the past four days. Fortunately the fish have been generous at the islands but all of us feel there remain plenty of good opportunities at catching yellowfin tuna, big eye tuna, and dorado offshore. Time will tell of course as at least a couple of us plan to head up and out tomorrow in search of new offshore prospects.
