Royal Star Fish Report

Beautiful weather graced our 1130 am departure and all shoreside logistics were executed flawlessly by our invaluable Panama manager Michael Joseph whose talent and ability to get the job done, regardless the circumstance, has been a tremendous asset to the success of this operation. With Anchoveta in our tanks and a jubilant group of anglers aboard, we headed down the Gulf of Panama turning the corner at Pt. Mala at dark on course for the famous Gulf of Chiriqui; a favorite haunt of the giant yellowfin tuna. The relatively short run to the prime fishing grounds means that our fishing time begins at daylight tomorrow and continues right through the late afternoon on our final day. That is right, seven full days of fishing time on a voyage of eight days! Before we start thinking about the end however we have plenty of ground to cover and fishing to do and reports from the last couple of days are beginning to sound encouraging. We are going to give the "lower" zone a look tomorrow before heading in towards the beach in the early afternoon to tank up on a bigger, highly effective, local bait known to frequent the area. Following our planned big bait endeavor, we will be back on the tuna grounds at daylight ready for action.
Our photo today features the south entrance of the famous Panama Canal on our stern as we head out in search of glory on our bow.
