Royal Star
Well the bad news is that I somehow deleted all the pictures for the day detailing the beautiful quality we encountered beginning at daylight. What a difference ten miles can make basically removing us from the small fish/skipjack zone to an area of straight big fish that showed some interest in biting on a couple of different occasions. Two different stops produced action on fish in the one to two hundred fifty pound class and I am certain that we witnessed and possibly hooked fish that were bigger. Once again the show on our chum was absolutely incredible with two hundred pound class fish blasting through the corner four, five, even six at a time literally leaving us speechless in the face of such an awesome spectacle. I can honestly say that while fishing the Revilla Gigedo islands on more than ninety trips over the course of fifteen years I saw a comparable showing on our chum bait one or two times total. Big or small, these fish down here are incredibly aggressive and obviously not boat shy putting on a show like we witnessed yesterday on every trip we have run this season. All I can say is wait for the video and you will see for yourself just how amazing these fish are when they charge the boat. The sight of two hundred pound class fish with two foot sickle fins slicing through the crystal clear, flat calm water literally within reach of our rod tips is presently imprinted on our memory and is a difficult image to shed for a true blue tuna fisherman. Three over two hundred was the total from two stops as well as another four in the one hundred twenty pound class as well as a handful of heartbreaks that unfortunately are inherent to the big fish game. Chartermaster Dennis Braid took the big fish honors with a two twenty eight and the other two were taken by "FishinFrank" Frank Mc Carthy`(218) and Gratian Bidart (211). We have plenty of time remaining in our voyage to get the job done, good bait, and the right group of anglers we are hoping the incredible signs we encountered yesterday stick around for the next few days.
Again my apologies for deleting the photos.
