Wide open calico bass on the plastics and iron

Hello Anglers,

Today was one of the funnest days of fishing we have had out here. Wide open calico bass on the plastics and iron, a few Black Sea Bass that we caught and released, and wide open yellowtail in the 25 to 50 plus pound class on the surface eating jigs, poppers, and fly lined baits. What made the day more enjoyable was the fact that we had zero wind where we were and very little drift and we only had to re-position a couple of times during the day. The fish were just hanging around us and the longer we sat the more that gathered up. The show these big yellowtail put on was worth the price of admission with free swimmers just cruising around the boat like we were not even there and swirling on the surface throwing a bunch of water around. Our biggest yellowtail came on the surface irons and big fish of the day went to Joe Gazal with a 57 pound yellowtail he caught on a Salas 7X light in the brown and white pattern. We had a couple more 50 pounders and probably a dozen in the 37 to 47 pound class. Very good action all day long. The first picture I am sending is of Aaron Shmuckler and Dave Heppler with a pair of 40 plus pound yellows they caught on the surface irons. The second picture is of Calvin Miller with a big Calico Bass he caught on the iron The third picture is of Joe Gazal and his 57 pound yellowtail he caught on the iron being held by captain Shawn Steward
