Steady Bites

A lot better day overall for us. We once again took a tour offshore looking for any life that could indicate some yellowfin tuna fish being around. Fortunately we had two of our colleagues with the same mindset so covering water will take 2/3 less time than just us being out here. Anyhow, we were able to located some school sized tuna that would pretty much either eat a popper or a trolling lure nothing else. After stopping time and time again on nice schools that wouldn’t bite we finally just started fishing everything we could. Poppers were definitely the ticket for us. After a solid morning effort the tuna fish slowed down a lot so we took a tour and located a handful of floating on just that produced some more dent sized dolphin fish.
After one more attempt on the tuna fish we finally got to a good stopping point. Coastal variety is how we finished our afternoon. Epic fishing on giant calicos and nice yellows, even a few bonus sierra mackerel made this afternoon a success. And remember everyone there is no more bait on our trip right now, so this is no chum and all jig fish. Epic! Tomorrow we’re gonna give the yellowtail and variety one more shot before eventually heading back up the line.
