A supplement to Capt. Brian Sims’ report today is definitely in order following the third consecutive night of insane fishing for bluefin offshore. The numbers over the last few nights have basically come down to how much horsepower each vessel has at the rail. Full limits are the norm - if anglers want to stay at the rail and catch them. Immense spots of fish, long overdue, have finally appeared suggesting that the missing body from down south has arrived. This is supported by the sprinkling of beautiful grade yellowfin tuna we now see in the mix. Between those and the every growing numbers of tropical favorites (dorado, yellowfin, and yellowtail) now showing on kelps in the local zones it seems safe to announce that summer has finally arrived. 

Fantastic weather, consistent with the season and almost always the key component in the success of the offshore fleet, has also settled in as the pattern rather than the exception.

I mention this as we have a handful of rare openings on upcoming short trips that became available due to a few unfortunate cancellations.
