Our group this trip began the trip saying they didn’t wanna night time bluefin fish but in the end they changed their minds. Knowing this we went straight into covering ground and figuring out a pattern as to what the fish were doing and where they were. By doing this we were able to locate a few schools of fish (on a full moon) that wanted to get with the program.
In total what probably landed about half of what we hooked. But it’s about providing the bites for our anglers more than it is the fish count. In total we landed 14 bluefin for the 15 anglers that were fishing and this fish were all in the 15-25 pound class.
This brings us to our next morning. We woke up to a little bit tougher weather conditions and a lot less fish seen than the past few days. With very few strikes on yellowfin and bluefin we were lucky enough to find a loose sonar school that kinda wanted to cooperate. With quite a few bites and not many on the board our group decided they didn’t wanna deal with the weather anymore so we bent it back into the coast. Tomorrow we’ll be targeting lingcod and other bottom critters.
