Sights and sounds

Variety day did not prove to be the most productive outing in fish hold results but the day, weather, and scenery were grand. Not that we didn’t enjoy some great fishing, we most certainly did, but the majority were released in favor of larger models and on general principle. Once again the bass fishin’ was beyond extraordinary. Epic is a description that captures the setting complete with a million big bass and wolf packs of trophy grade yellowtail crashing around.
The ultimate visual highlights however were at the expense of a handful of hapless surface cruising blue sharks being mercilessly harassed by schools of premium grade yellows attempting to use them as a scratching post. Time and again the yellows would push the sharks up taking turns rolling on them sometimes four, five, six at a time. More often than not when we observe this scene a well placed surface iron or two will elicit a bite. In today’s case the yellows were having none of it intent instead upon bedeviling those sharks to their wits end. Catching or not the show was well worth the time. Witnessing the oceans mini dramas never gets old.
Today’s image features a great highlight courtesy of our good friend Royal Star veteran Wayne Passifuime. Wayne picked off this 45 pound class beauty on the dropper loop with a jumbo mackerel for bait.
