Grinding it out amidst very good volume of finicky, not biting fish. Devils! At the very least we had some fun daytime shots on the kites and a few flyline fish awaiting the big nighttime push. Primed and ready we were smack on them right at dark when it most mattered. And the bastards would not bite. Maddening! School after school parading beneath us 240 - 400 feet and we have sore winding arms to show for it. It was just one of those nights. For whatever reason they were off the bite. I'll refer you all to the handy "Fisherman’s Excuse" book for any convenient explanation. And in the end the old "at least we didn't get skunked" line came into play. Thank goodness.
