Greeted by much better than expected conditions offshore the evening passed with some incredible fish watching. A parade of huge spots of bluefin stretching for miles suggested that there was some fine fishing to come. Not biting in the daylight all awaited nightfall in high anticipation of what was to unfold. Then came the wind. Freshening to a stiff breeze what was a relatively tranquil sea state quickly became the opposite. As so often is the case good things come at a price. In our case good fishing fortune got the trip off on a strong note. Our hearty group of twelve select anglers battled it out at the rail winning some and losing some due to rather challenging conditions. Ok with the beginning round and definitely sated with the sea conditions we threw the towel in a little earlier than usual opting to jog downwind. A well deserved respite was thoroughly appreciated by all whom immediately retired to their refuges below to savor some genuine slumber. We’ll be back at it tomorrow continuing the search for bluefin offshore. Royal Star friends father son duo Phil and Evan Hashimoto receive photo honors with a nice pair of hard won prized bluefin.
