We departed yesterday mid morning on our annual 4 day Island Tackle adventure! With the fleet still seeing giant schools of 80-200 pound Bluefin to the south, we decided to venture our way down there. We arrived on scene early in the afternoon and instantly started seeing the sign we had seen from the trip before. Sinker rigs and heavy fly line baits were definitely the ticket for getting these tricky bluefin to bite.
Calvin Louie in our first photo was first to strike with his beautiful 200 pounder that damn near pushed him over the edge. After that the gang started to get going. Everyone started to get a few bites, but landing them was a different story. Many tackle casualties lead to us losing quite a few nice fish, but that's fishin for you. Our All Star of the day goes to Daniel Batchelor, catching his daily limit of 100 pound bluefin. We’ll be right back at it tomorrow fishing the same area for hopefully some more opportunities!
