One step closer

Tomorrow is a big day for the effort to reopen San Diego passenger sport fishing to the general public. The San Diego County Board of Supervisors will be hosting a meeting during which I, and several other representatives from the Sport Fishing community, will have the opportunity to share our positions with the board before their vote is cast. A lot has gone into this effort. Most important are the efforts that we have all taken to establish new protocols at the landings and on board our vessels in support of safe passage for our anglers. There will be a host of new safe distancing/cleaning procedures that anglers will find at the landings on the day of departure and arrival and on board Royal Star. All are common sense based adapted to our businesses in support of health department suggested/mandated safety guidelines.

Please offer your support to the cause through email, voice, or social media. I am confident that we can operate safely with the commitment and cooperation of everyone on our vessels. It is time to restore sport fishing on our vessels as a safe recreational pursuit to be enjoyed by those who choose to do so.

That said we do recognize that there are certain high risk individuals that will choose to postpone or cancel their voyages until there are more assurances that the Covid-19 virus is in check. We fully appreciate and understand this position. While we urge anglers to not allow fear to guide your decision there are individuals with well founded concerns that can not be minimized. As I have previously stated call Tracy if you need to make alternative arrangements.

Look for information to be posted following tomorrow’s meeting. Enjoy today's image from the archive courtesy of our good friend Jonny Harrington.
