Fish Report for 11-10-2019

Admittedly our expectations were a little beyond today’s results. Not that we suffered a bust, better than a couple three (tribute to my old mentor Eddie McEwen) handfuls of dandy grade “skin” prove that, we simply aimed higher and the fish weren’t around. And while I’d like to draw on the old fisherman’s excuse book to assign blame on something there really wasn’t any reason to hang one’s hat on. Good weather, good conditions, no pressure, and a fabled wahoo destination added up to some. Thank goodness for it.

Resorting to my eternal optimism we accept the beauties yielded with appreciation. Needless to say we’ve had results in the past, many times, that make today’s haul look like the mother lode. We’ll take it.

Not enough to lock us down sunset found us on the move again seeking variety and action beyond. Good weather and a rapidly approaching full moon are a historically productive combination for all species offshore, especially wahoo down below. As such we’ll be positioning ourselves for success after a morning of offshore looking then an afternoon/evening bait run. As the old saying goes “big bait big fish”. Such is the case at present down here. Photo today features long time Royal Star angler and one of my living heroes Tom Honaker with a fine wahoo he picked off on the iron.
