We added to the variety list in a small way covering excellent territory in beautiful conditions above and below the surface. I have to admit that I am rather surprised the search did not yield more in this zone. Such is fishing. Needless to say I’m still chasing them after 32 years of long range fishing for good reason.
Fortunately the lack of production had zero effect on the atmosphere on board. Anglers took the easy day in stride wrapping up equipment and enjoying the glass calm conditions. A few stops on nigh impossible to find good size kelps broke up the ride. Then it was over, done. A quick visit to the beautiful port city of Ensenada and we were on our way home ecstatic with the fantastic load of premium quality yellowfin tuna and yellowtail in the RSW tanks below.
Arriving in SD tomorrow we turn around and head forth again on the annual Mitch Otera seven day run. Today’s photo features San Diego local angler and long time Royal Star friend Ethan Dahlkamp with his beautiful dorado picked off one of the several kelps probed offshore.
