Limits in the scenery department; it doesn’t get any better. In flat calm conditions the pristine Baja Coast served up that old school display of nature found nowhere else. Huge bird schools and spots of breaking yellowtail erupted mid morning providing plenty of incentive to work the rail and fish hard. And fish hard we did. Catching was another story.

Once again we ran into an abundance of non biters. I can’t explain it. Easy to explain, in light of the stark lack of production, was our move out of there by the early afternoon. Though stunning in beauty the hatch is begging for more, a lot more.

So we travel up hoping to settle the score with those bluefin and add some yellowtail action on the side. Reports from the local offshore grounds and below indicate that those yellows we had a sample of the first day have really moved in. Conditions are right for looking - flat calm. Hoping to put those to good use we have plenty of time still to get the job done. A turn around in our fishing fortunes is overdue.

Photo today features Royal Star angler Michael Dofflemyre with one of his nice yellows snagged on a spot down below.
