Change

The kind of surprise today that we aim for. Change was due to come; and come it did. Just about all day, in premium conditions, we sat and scratched at the quality yellowfin tuna that all of us have been waiting for. Though casualties were high due to the nature of this fishing beautiful grade tuna came over the rail one by one adding up to a fine score in the end. Lighter outfits were the call today as the smaller, “cracker” sardines were the trick. This of course led to an expected high number of hook pulls, chew off’s, and break off’s but that’s ok. We we’re all mighty pleased for the chances, and again managed to wrangle plenty enough on board to call it a glowing success.

While there were no heroics performed in the decision to return to the “Crucible” (from my perspective it was an obvious call) it is rewarding to benefit from good timing. We were not favored here out of the gates. In fact we were dealt a crap sandwich when fishing cratered and counter moves were few. So the go to strategy of stubborn persistence and refusing to yield are given plenty of credit for this result. Thank goodness.

Heading out at dark we will ply the offshore waters one last time while working our way across. Something to break up the ride and supplement the variety category would be nice. More than something would be epic. At the very least we still have weather from heaven to work/look in. Catch them or not we’ll be riding in style.  We can’t ask for more than that.
