Royal Polaris Fishing Report

Royal Polaris Crew

Hello everyone;

Our morning started out with Greg (Crewmember) catching a 25 pound White Sea Bass on his watch, (around 0330 hours). The first passenger arrived on deck around 04:00 hours, and he hooked a 25 pound Yellowtail on the dropper-loop. The bite started out with one and two’s going, then around 09:00, things started getting good.

We would have 5 to 8 going until it was time to leave and start heading north and try our luck at some Yellowfin tuna. You could walk into the galley and you could smell the aroma of Ben Gay in the air. After all the tugging and pulling on Yellowtail for over 8 hours, our passengers had enough, as most just took a seat watched the few that were still fishing.

Most of the fish were in the 18 to 25 pound range, with one fish going over 40 pounds. The lucky angler was Teresa Aripa, from West Oakland.

We are now headed north, and hoping to find the kelp that is holding. So wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our daily events.
