Spring Conditions
5-8-2017
Tim Ekstrom
So far smooth passage southward maintaining our scheduled arrival time in Cabo San Lucas Wednesday afternoon. As for conditions the coast certainly appears to be in the classic Spring transition with abundant green, cool water driven to the surface by consistent NW winds. This setting is what I would call “normal”, if such a medium exists in the ocean environment. Perhaps better said is that these conditions are very common along this stretch of the coast at this time of the year.
No fish sign to speak of but plenty of life above Islas San Benitos and Isla Cedros suggest that the zone that will see the majority of our late Spring, early Sumer offshore effort will be to the north again. But we shall see. There is still plenty of time for this transition to play out and one never can project anything with complete certainty out here. What I can say for certain is that whatever comes down the pike we will be a part of. The journey continues.
