South we travel leaving scores, acres, miles if you will, of not biting bluefin behind. I should add a qualifier to that assertion though: not biting bluefin in the capacity that we desire. A few for the skiff guys, and a few on the long rods for the lucky handful are epic on the local scene; an absolute gift to be cherished and savored, but we have a yearning for a style of fishing with more substantive opportunity. Those big Bluefin will bite soon enough; we'll leave them on the back burner for now.

So we head forth in search mode. To the south seeking variety, quality, and quantity – the three tenets of a successful long range catch that I have promoted many a time. Good weather presently graces the day, and promises to hold for the next few. Beyond that though the forecast suggests a change that we do not welcome. Wind, blustery conditions and choppy seas, perhaps a bit more than choppy, just may limit our options if the set up transpires as projected. We shall see. For now we sally forth in fine shape on this annual seven day run headed up by Charter Master extraordinaire Larry Brown. Reports from the grounds are soon to follow.

On the admin front Tracy informed me that we have a couple of spots on upcoming voyages to offer due to late cancellations. The upcoming BlackWater seven day departing the 18th of June returning the 25th has one or two spots that just became available, and the July 3rd – July 6th three day, perfectly timed over the 4th of July weekend, has one spot available as of Friday. Give her a ring in the office if you've the time to jump on a trip. This tremendous quantity of big bluefin on the local grounds is reason enough to venture a ride!
