Offshore Fish Report for 11-12-2015

Working up
11-12-2015

No wind greeted anglers this morning – a welcome condition following last night's thrilling ride. A perfect setting for a final offshore attempt we set to the task confident that such perfect conditions this time would not go to waste. Ideal lighting, just a little texture on the ocean surface – it was the set up we hope for every time we are working offshore. To our chargrin – again, we came up with absolutely zero; not a single blade of grass was found. Incredible is how I feel about this result. Shifting to a zone today where kelps are traditionally abundant and large this result was the ultimate testament to what is a very different ocean right now, and this season in general; though that is no news flash.
Fishing though is all about the next move. One must account for such variables and pivot to the best of available options. Fortunately, in today's case, we were prepared for this exact possibility; “fool me once”, as the saying goes. The afternoon found all at the rail applying their fishing skills to the pursuit of a few nice halibut. Though probably not best known as a long range target species one or two beauties coming over the rail sure go a long way toward motivating everyone to wet a line. And we did compiling half a dozen of the tast y flat fish before dropping the pick and enjoying another epic sunset in a scenic bay and conditions flat calm.
Moving up the line tomorrow will be the final objective. A little morning fishing will compliment the ride, why not when we've got the time, but the robust diva has more or less struck the ending chord on this successful run. Photo today features Royal Star veteran Bryan Cortez whose jumbo trophy last year admittedly dwarfed the 130 in this image. All things being relative this beauty well served the cause and will certainly rival anything prior as table fare; a job well done.
