Shogun
Hot Stick Chartermaster
by Bill Roecker

Shogun docked at Fisherman’s Landing November 16 after the annual Bob Sands Tackle ten-day trip with 22 passengers.

Chartermaster Sal Vallone won first place for a 98-pound yellowfin tuna he took with a chunk bait on a 6/0 ringed Mustad hook tied to 60-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon. He backed that stuff with 80-pound Izorline Spectra on a Cal Sheets Super 12 Penn reel on a Calstar 7470 H rod. Sal cranked that baby to the boat in 20 minutes.

Zack Sewell of Bellvue, ID won second place for a 75-pound tuna, and Maksim Andrykan of Woodland Hills was third for a 66-pounder. Arvel Castleberry stood in with the winners holding his best-ever 45-pound yellowtail.
